Folake Abiola-James was born in Nigeria, she moved to the UK at the age of 16. She is a graduate from a London university where she studied Accounting with computing and graduated top of the Business school with a First-Class degree, receiving various awards for the best result after her degree. She went on to be headhunted to work in a company as a Trainee Accountant whilst completing her ACCA qualification; qualifying as a Chartered Accountant at the end of three-years. Folake has held senior positions in various companies over the last few years working as a Financial Controller and Financial Consultant. Her niche is helping companies manage their cashflow and cleaning up their processes and her programming skills comes in handy in working on spreadsheet.

Folake believes she is incredibly lucky as she counts herself fortunate that her day job as an Accountant ties up with her passion of talking about and understanding money. She believes people should be financially empowered through correct education on money decisions, learning about financial alternatives that bring wealth and be aware not understanding money can affect the choices one is able to make in life.

She likes to keep herself up to date by reading and listening to people talking about Managing Your Money and has given a webinar on the topic. Folake has spent the last 10 years sponsoring an initiative in her old high school where the top three students are rewarded each year with financial gifts and self-development books to empower them on graduation. She also donates self-development and financial empowering teen books to her high school library each year. She strongly believes in giving back and people helping each other attain their full and best potential.
She loves to read novels, enjoying espionage and thrillers books. She counts Ken Follett, Tom Clancy, John Grisham and Sidney Sheldon as some of her favorite authors. She also enjoys traveling to new places and experiencing new cultures. She is married with a daughter.
